TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man was arrested and charged late Saturday for dealing methamphetamine after a traffic stop by Indiana State Police.

James T. Oeffler, 52, was booked into the Vigo County Jail on additional charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and driving while intoxicated.

Trooper Michael Organ stopped a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup near 25th Street and Haythorne Avenue for turn signal and stop sign violations at 10:41 p.m.

During the traffic stop, Organ reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle and the odor of alcohol on the driver.

A search of the vehicle revealed $740, three hydrocodone pills, 3 grams of meth, less than 30 grams of marijuana, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Vigo County Jail, and appeared in Vigo Superior Court 3 on Monday morning. He has been released on bond.

In Pimento, Blackhawk, Duke Energy planning Wednesday power outage

Duke Energy has announced a planned power outage for Wednesday. The interruption of service will be between 11 and 11:30 a.m. and will affect the areas of Pimento and Blackhawk.
