TERRE HAUTE — A fire destroyed a house in Nevins Township on Sunday morning.

The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department reports that two adults and two children resided in the house on Barn Dance Lane south of Kyle Avenue near Coal Bluff.

Chief Deputy Clark Cottom reported that nine dogs that lived in the home died because of smoke inhalation and fire. The older farmhouse was a total loss, he said.

The fire remained under investigation Sunday afternoon to determine a cause.
