TERRE HAUTE —
An elderly man was airlifted Saturday afternoon to Wishard Hospital after his clothing caught fire as he was trying to burn a pile of brush, according to Harold Osborn, deputy chief with the Lost Creek Fire Department.
The man suffered burns to the upper part of his body. Scanner traffic indicated some of the burns may have been second-degree.
The incident occurred just after 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 4800 block of Old Fort Harrison Road.
The Lost Creek, Trans-Care and Lifeline responded, Osborn said. No further details were immediately available.
