SUV and school bus collide at Sullivan County intersection

No children aboard school bus at the time

---- — Police responded this morning to a two-vehicle crash involving a Southwest Sullivan School Corp. bus and a Chevy Tahoe SUV. No students were aboard the bus when the accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. at a Carlisle intersection.

Indiana State Police report there were minor injuries to the driver of the SUV while the bus driver was uninjured.

According to police, the school bus, driven by 55-year-old Mary Pirtle of Carlisle, was eastbound on Lewis Street and stopped for a stop sign at Alexander Street. The SUV, driven by 55-year-old Dana Taylor, was westbound on Lewis Street and also stopped for a stop sign at Alexander Street. Both vehicles proceeded ahead at the same time, with the school bus turning left into the Tahoe.

Taylor was transported to the Sullivan County Community Hospital for examination and later released. No defects were found on the school bus and no citations were issued.
