Discovery of a clandestine methamphetamine lab resulted in the arrest of a Clay County man Sunday afternoon.
According to a media release issued by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, Thomas Averill, 45, Center Point, was arrested Sunday on allegations of manufacturing and dealing methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of precursors, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Deputies had reportedly obtained a search warrant for the residence based on an ongoing investigation, the release states. While executing the search warrant at the residence, deputies reportedly smelled odors associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine. The search reportedly produced a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory and several items associated with its production. Also, a substance tested positive for the presence of marijuana, and items used to ingest both marijuana and methamphetamine were found.
