Tribune-Star staff report

TERRE HAUTE — Authorities in Parke County continue to make arrests in a string of burglaries that targeted businesses, churches, schools and an ATM machine.

The Parke County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday deputies arrested George R. Goldsmith, 44, of Mansfield on a total of six allegations of felony burglary.

Goldsmith’s arrest, which took place Wednesday, stemmed from an ongoing investigation into a four-month string of burglaries affecting locations in Parke, Clay and Vigo counties.

Goldsmith was taken to the Parke County Jail where his bond has been set at $15,000, no 10 percent allowed.

Last month, police arrested Kevin R. Walker, 35, of Carbon for his alleged involvement in the crime spree. A third suspect, Charles D. Drummond of Clay County is in the Vigo County Jail on unrelated charges.

The burglaries affected 13 locations in Parke County, three in Clay and one in Vigo. Much of the merchandise taken has been recovered by police.
