TERRE HAUTE — An accident involving two semitrailers caused a traffic snag at about 4:16 p.m. today on Interstate 70 in Vigo County.

The accident happened as traffic slowed for a construction zone just west of the 10-mile marker, about a mile west of Indiana 46.

Both lanes were closed for about 6 minutes. One lane of east-bound traffic is now open.

One semi rear ended the other. The driver of the first semi was not injured. The front end of the second semi was heavily damaged but the driver declined medical treatment.

State Police and the Terre Haute Fire Department responded to the accident scene.

Motorists are advised to avoid traveling on I-70 in this area if possible, or to expect slowed traffic and travel delays due to the emergency response and cleanup.
