Valley Red Cross expanding flood relief

TERRE HAUTE — Now that roads are becoming more safely passable in the aftermath of recent local flooding, the American Red Cross is expanding its outreach via home visits and bulk distribution into the affected areas.  

Bulk distribution of such relief items as cleanup kits and bottled water began Thursday and continues today and Saturday.

n Today — beginning at 1 p.m. in Dresser and then moving to southwestern Vigo County

n Saturday — beginning at 11 a.m. in Reelsville

In lieu of a service center, the Red Cross will continue conducting home visits in the flood-affected areas to ensure families’ emergency needs are met by Red Cross or other community partners.

Services continue to be available at the Wabash Valley Chapter office at 700 S. Third St., Terre Haute. For more information, call the local Red Cross at 812-232-3393 and press 0 for the operator.
