WEST TERRE HAUTE — No one was injured Thursday morning when a Vigo County School Corp. school bus sideswiped a utility pole in western Vigo County.

The minor accident took place about 7:20 a.m. at Old Paris Road and Cusick Place. The bus carried about 20 West Vigo middle and high school students.

The school bus driver turned a corner and clipped the utility pole, said Superintendent Dan Tanoos.

After the incident, Duke Energy temporarily shut down electrical power in the area.

Bus damage was minimal and students remained on the bus and were taken to school.

Tanoos said the West Vigo students “were the best behaved kids I have ever seen.”
