Stunt performer scheduled to be at Wigwam

‘Crash’ recently on ‘America’s Got Talent’

TERRE HAUTE — A celebrity stunt man named Jim “Crash” Moreau is scheduled to perform at Terre Haute’s Wigwam Skate and Event Center on Saturday.

Moreau is to be featured at a VIP meet and greet at the Wigwam at 6 p.m. Tickets for that event are $10, and general admission tickets will be $7.

At 8 p.m, Moreau is scheduled to perform Hollywood-style stunts live.

“This special event is a prelude to many more to come as we assemble the best entertainment enhancements and special events in an effort to provide the ultimate guest experience on an unparalleled level,” said Robert Kramer, Wigwam’s operator.

According to a press release: “[Moreau] has wrecked and destroyed more cars than there are New York City cabs. With a repertoire of names including Captain Explosion, The Maine Maniac and Crash … his names are synonymous with many of the signature stunts and titles of exhibitions he performs throughout the United States. To the average person this man is as much of an oddity as the names he performs under. Ironically there are hundreds of thousands of dedicated NASCAR fans, racing aficionados and dirt track enthusiasts from all over the world that know of him very well and come to see him perform super human stunts and never-before-seen feats.”

Moreau started his stunt and driving career in the 1970s, and soon moved into motion pictures, television specials and many lifestyle and industry documentaries. Among his stunts was a rollover crash in the movie “Death Riders.”

Moreau has driven for automobile stunt shows, including The Joie Chitwood Show and Charlie Belknaps Hollywood Stunt Show. He still produces an extreme stunt show and continues to travel with the last touring automotive stunt show, The Black Cat Hell Drivers.

He was recently featured on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”
