Suspect in Bogey’s burglary out of hospital, in Vigo County Jail

A Terre Haute man arrested after allegedly burglarizing a local business and crashing a minivan into a telephone pole early Saturday morning is scheduled to appear in Vigo Superior Court 3 on Thursday for the filing of formal charges.

As of Monday afternoon, 27-year-old Kyle Layman was out of the hospital and in the Vigo County Jail, but his bond was set at $60,000 cash only. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jacob Miller stated in court that it is likely that class-B felony charges will be filed against Layman, who has numerous prior convictions.

Layman was arrested Saturday close to the scene of the crash at Indiana 63 after he emerged from a cornfield and asked off-duty deputies for a ride, police said.

Layman faces charges of burglary, fleeing police and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, all related to the burglarizing of Bogey’s Family Fun Center early Saturday morning, police said.
