Condition of boy hit by car unknown

BRAZIL — No update was available on the condition of a 9-year-old Clay County boy hit by a car at about 3 p.m. Monday near his home.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports that the boy was getting mail out of a mailbox when he stepped into the roadway in front of a northbound 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Nancy B. Knox, 73, of Center Point.

The boy was taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil by TransCare ambulance His injuries were unknown, but were not believed to be life-threatening.

The accident occurred on County Road 200 East about a half mile south of County Road 800 North.
