Clay County battery leads to arrest of Brazil man

TURNER — A Brazil man is in custody after a battery incident on Tuesday in Clay County.

Police said a tip from a caller took them to a female, who was found with multiple lacerations to her body, in the intersection of County Road 300 West and County Road 750 North in the area of Turner, west of Brazil.

Alan Lain, 38, of Brazil, who was also at the scene when police arrived, was arrested and taken to the Clay County Justice Center, police said. Lain and the female victim had a confrontation before Lain allegedly began to batter the female with several items, causing her injury, police added.

Lain was preliminarily charged with domestic battery and battery with a deadly weapon. Bond was set at $10,000 with 10 percent, police said. The female victim was taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital for treatment, officials said.
