Police were at the scene of a death investigation on Sunday in southern Vigo County.
“It’s a double death investigation,” Vigo County Chief Deputy Clark E. Cottom told the Tribune-Star at the scene.
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department received a call around 5:15 p.m. from a concerned family member of the occupants of a house in the 11700 block of South Singhurst Street in the Pimento area near the Vigo County and Sullivan County line. The family had not been in communication with the occupants for “quite sometime” and asked police to check, Cottom said.
The family went to the house — which is on top of a hill a few yards off of Singhurst Street — on Easter Sunday and became concerned when no movement was observed, and the house was locked, Cottom said.
When police got to the scene, they had to force entry into the home, Cottom said. “And during the check of the home, they discovered two deceased individuals within the living quarters.”
There were no signs of forced entry prior to police’s arrival, Cottom said.
“We don’t have any reason to believe that there is a concern of safety for the public,” Cottom added.
Autopsy is pending and the coroner has been notified, he said. The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released at a later time.
