Tax break: Businesses offering freebies

TERRE HAUTE — Tax day is here.

It could be a day upon which millions of American taxpayers decide to celebrate in relief after making last minute filings.

To help with that celebration, a number of stores and restaurants nationally are marking the day with freebies or great deals.

Sonic is offering half-price on drinks and slushes all day today. The Sonic store on U.S. 40/Indiana 46 is participating.

Arby’s is offering a free snack-sized curly fries today if you bring in a coupon from Facebook or the restaurant’s website, www.arbys.com.

Office Depot is offering free shredding, for up to 5 pounds of paper, if you bring in a coupon from its website (www.officedepot.com) and buy one paper item, you’ll get the second one at 50 percent off.

Some tax deals, alas, already ended. McDonald’s had offered a free small cup of coffee during breakfast hours for two weeks, but ended that tax-related promotion on Sunday.

Nationwide, Boston Market is offering two chicken meals with sides for $10.40 today. No coupon is required. At Hard Rock Cafe from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., diners can earn a free entree by getting on stage and singing an entire song. It could save you as much as $15.

If you go to Magazines.com and use coupon code TAXBREAK, you can get some titles for $5 off through April 30.
