TERRE HAUTE — An incident at a Terre Haute motel resulted in the arrest of a man accused of snatching a child.

Timothy R. Blazier, 49, was unable to appear in Vigo Superior Court 1 on Wednesday, authorities said, because of his level of intoxication. However, he is set to return to court Monday to face an initial charge of criminal confinement and possible additional charges.

Terre Haute Police report that at 8:22 p.m. Tuesday, Blazier allegedly grabbed a small child who walked past his motel room and pulled the child inside.

A different child with the small child saw the incident and reported it to his mother and stepfather, who then went to Blazier’s motel room and pounded on the door.

The suspect reportedly opened the door and shoved the partially naked child out the door. Police found Blazier with numerous injuries and transported him to a hospital for treatment before he was booked into the Vigo County Jail.

According to the Indiana Offender Database website, Blazier has a 2007 conviction in Fountain County for child molestation and Clinton County convictions for battery and failure to register as a sex offender. He was released from prison in September 2013.

Judge John Roach set Blazier’s bail at $100,000, no 10 percent allowed.
