Man could face attempted murder charge

TERRE HAUTE — A 25-year-old male was discovered with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds on the porch of a residence Friday after police were dispatched to the house in reference to a shooting, according to a Terre Haute Police Department news release.

Ryan J. Christian was found by police in the 300 block of North 18th Street and was transported to an out-of-area hospital, police said.

Police said witnesses at the scene identified the suspect as 72-year-old John W. Johnson.

According to the release, officers went to Johnson’s residence in the 2300 block of Second Avenue, and upon arrival, saw Johnson come to the door with his hands in front of him. He told officers they needed to take him to jail, according to the release.

Johnson was transported to Vigo County Jail on a preliminary charge of attempted murder, according to the news release.
