TERRE HAUTE —
Police say failure to yield by a teen driver contributed to a Wednesday afternoon crash that toppled an SUV carrying children.
According to a report filed by the Terre Haute Police Department, which investigated the crash, the teenager told police he was driving east on Honey Creek Parkway and came to a stop for a stop sign at South Third Place. He then entered the intersection, striking the SUV, which had the right-of-way.
The SUV, operated by a daycare owner, was transporting five children between the ages of 4 and 7 and one teen, age 13. One child and the driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
All drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts and airbags deployed during the accident, according to the report.
