Tribune-Star staff report
TERRE HAUTE —
Greene County authorities have made contact with a Terre Haute woman who was reported to be a missing person by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
Cecilia Hoffmann, 23, was reportedly last seen in the Linton area around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Police reported that she contacted a friend during the evening hours, but never arrived at her destination.
Greene County Sheriff’s Detective Jim O’Malley told the Tribune-Star that Hoffmann made a post to her Facebook account at about 11 a.m. Wednesday stating, “I am fine. Thanks for the concern. I’ll give out more details once I talk to my family.” Authorities later made contact with Hoffmann.
O’Malley said that police received a 911 call late Tuesday from a woman in distress who was screaming, crying and stated that she was lost in the middle of a cornfield. Based on that call, police decided to issue the alert for Hoffmann after no additional contact was made with her, O’Malley said.
