TERRE HAUTE — Four Indianapolis men have been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery after they allegedly took money from a man who was attempting to purchase marijuana from them.

Appearing in Vigo Superior Court 3 on Tuesday were 18-year-old Yassin M. Fashir, 21-year-old Larrell Jones, 19-year-old Dominique Kimbrough and 20-year-old Daron Vinice. Judge David Bolk found probable cause for their arrests on charges of dealing marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, carrying a handgun without a permit and armed robbery.

Sgt. Doug Bensinger of the Terre Haute Police Department said in court that a THPD officer noticed a car driving with its lights off in the area of Wabash Avenue and Fourth Street. After making a traffic stop on the car near Fifth and Walnut streets, the officer reported that he smelled marijuana in the vehicle. The officer handcuffed all four suspects, and a search of the vehicle revealed a small revolver and $1,300. None of the men claimed ownership of the handgun., During the traffic stop, another car pulled up at the scene and its driver approached police. The man told police that he had met with the four suspects to buy marijuana from them, but as he pulled out his money, they put a gun to his head and took his money, cell phones and other items.

The judge set bail at $60,000 cash only for all four suspects. They are expected to return to court at 10 a.m. Friday for filing of formal charges.
