TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man was injured when his car crashed into a cemetery at about 3 p.m. Sunday on Curry Drive east of Sullivan Place.

Vigo County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Clark Cottom reported that Bradley D. Jewett was driving too fast and talking on a cell phone when his 2006 Saturn Vue went off the road and continued for about 110 feet before hitting a driveway embankment and entering the Hull Cemetery. The car went airborne and then down a 30- to 40-foot embankment full of old metal, concrete slabs and cut tree limbs.

Jewett was extricated from his vehicle by Honey Creek Fire and Rescue, then transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle was so entrapped in debris that two wreckers were used to remove it from the scene, Cottom said.
