TERRE HAUTE — The following individuals were booked into the Vigo County Jail by area law enforcement on Thursday and Friday, based on jail records. Charges are recommended by arresting officers but are not final until the Vigo County prosecutor reviews the case and files official charges.


Nicholas R. Cox, 18, 700 block of North Fruitridge Avenue, Terre Haute. Booked 7:42 a.m. Public intoxication and minor consuming.

Shawn V. Rogers, 37, 3300 block of East Haythorne Avenue, Terre Haute. Booked 10:17 a.m. Criminal mischief.

Shanah M. Howell, 29, 2200 block of Sycamore Street, Terre Haute. Booked 11:01 a.m. Failure to appear (two counts) and parole violation.

Robert E. Spitler, 57, 4400 block of South Eighth Street, Terre Haute. Booked 3:33 p.m. Murder.

Jesse E. Padgett, 22, 200 block of South Ninth Street, West Terre Haute. Booked 4:47 p.m. Court order (two counts).

Toby J. Hostetler, 37, 2200 block of Boston Avenue, Terre Haute. Booked 5:08  p.m. Failure to appear (three counts).

Clarence J. Pendley, 20, 1200 block of South 13 1/2 Street, Terre Haute. Booked 5:25 p.m. Criminal trespassing.

Steven A. Session, 30, 3400 block of South 10th Street, Terre Haute. Booked 6:26 p.m. Driving while suspended, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Cody M. Bowman, 19, 1400 block of North Grand Avenue, Terre Haute. Booked 7:52 p.m. Animal cruelty.


Kyle D. Montgomery, 27, 1300 block of North 19th Street, Terre Haute. Booked 12:46 a.m. Failure to appear.

Kelly Stuffle, 44, 5100 block of East Daws Drive, Terre Haute. Booked 2:07 a.m. Operating while intoxicated.

William H. Elleman, 45, 100 block of South First Street, Terre Haute. Booked 2:48 a.m. Battery-domestic, battery, violation of a no-contact order.

Kelsey L. Knapp, 19, 1200 block of Prestwick Circle, Greenwood. Booked 5:35 a.m. Receiving stolen property and resisting law enforcment.

Under the law, criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
