Tribune-Star staff report
After decades of frustration, work is finally set to begin Monday morning widening Clinton’s often-flooding Feather Creek.
Since at least the 1930s, Clinton’s civic leaders have been trying to find the money to widen and deepen the creek, which runs through the heart of the city and often floods.
Last year, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers agreed to fund the vast majority of the approximately $1.2 million project. The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs also provided a large portion of the funding.
A ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Monday on the Ninth Street bridge in Clinton.
