TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man is facing drunk driving allegations after a dramatic crash about 4 a.m. Wednesday in southern Vigo County.

Connor Brearly, 26, was apparently driving at a high rate of speed before dawn on Indiana 63 near Lombardi Drive just south of the U.S. penitentiary, according to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department. His vehicle left the roadway and reportedly rolled several times before coming to rest in a field. Parts of Brearly’s car struck a home near the highway, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Brearly was taken to Union Hospital for treatment of injuries. His blood alcohol content was measured at .256, more than three times the legal limit.

Brearly was later taken to Vigo County Jail where he remained Wednesday afternoon facing allegations of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
