CARLISLE — A Peru woman is in the Sullivan County Jail facing two preliminary felony counts for allegedly trafficking cell phones into the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility.

A Department of Corrections news release states that Sheyenne Johnson, 26, came to the facility early Sunday afternoon to visit offender Roger Jaske. Correctional staff in the facility visit room observed Johnson place an object into a sandwich and pass it to Jaske. Staff then confiscated the object, wrapped in tape.

After questioning by WVCF Internal Affairs and Indiana State Police, Johnson was arrested and charged with two class-C felonies, trafficking cell phones into a penal facility, including two cell phone watch inserts and one cell phone SIMS card.

Johnson’s bond was set at $30,000. Jaske, 60, is serving a life sentence on a St. Joseph County murder conviction along with two Madison County convictions for voluntary manslaughter and escape.

Jaske has been placed in segregation pending the outcome of the investigation.
