United Way needs volunteers for weekend food drive

TERRE HAUTE — Volunteers are still needed to help with the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger food drive on Saturday, according to a press release.

The NALC food drive is an annual event that involves individuals placing bags of non-perishable food at their mailboxs for letter carriers to pick up and deliver to their local food bank.

The United Way of the Wabash Valley needs volunteers, who will be assigned specific neighborhoods to assist the letter carriers in gathering the food that people will be leaving at their mail boxes. The food is to be picked up and then delivered to Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank, 1356 Locust St.

To volunteer or for more information, contact Ellen Reeves, AFL-CIO Community Services liaison for United Way of the Wabash Valley, at 812-235-6287 or by email at ellen.reeves@local.unitedway. org. Individuals are encouraged to arrive at the food bank at 9 a.m. Saturday for directions and to obtain their designated routes.
