Police still looking for missing Terre Haute man

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute Police have reissued information on a man reported missing in October 2013.

Jerry Cheesman, 49, was last in contact with anyone on Oct. 17, 2013, police say. He was reported missing after he failed to keep an appointment at the Hamilton Center on Oct. 23, 2013.

At the time of the report, Cheesman had no permanent address, and his last temporary residence was at the Light House Mission on Wabash Avenue. He is described as being 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

THPD Assistant Chief Shawn Keen said police have conducted searches for Cheesman, and they followed up on one possible sighting that turned out to be false. Keen said that with the recent break in the weather, people who are out in rural areas are asked to keep Cheesman’s description in mind. Some information indicated Cheesman may have been near Tabertown Street in eastern Vigo County around the time of his disappearance.

There has been no financial activity for Cheesman since he was reported missing, Keen said.

Anyone with information about Cheesman is asked to call THPD at 812-238-1661 or to call Crime Stoppers at 812-238-STOP.
