Coats: Eric Holcomb to serve as state chief of staff

News Release

---- — INDIANAPOLIS – Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) today announced Eric Holcomb will serve as his new state chief of staff overseeing all operations in Indiana. Mike McMains will remain on staff as senior counsel. Dean Hingson will remain as Chief of Staff in Washington, D.C. Holcomb most recently served as the state party chairman of the Indiana Republican Party.

“Eric Holcomb is a well-respected, results-oriented leader in Indiana, and I am honored to have him join my team. As a veteran, state party chairman and long-time aide to former Governor Mitch Daniels, Eric has the experience and leadership skills to oversee my Indiana operations and assist me in working on behalf of Hoosiers.”

“I have long admired Senator Dan Coats from afar and more recently up close. Watching him represent our state with a strong determination to bring the Indiana model of success to the federal level is a model in and of itself," said Holcomb. "The opportunity to serve as a part of Senator Coats' team as he works to tackle the many challenges facing our nation on behalf of fellow Hoosiers is a great honor and natural next step.”

“I also want to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to Mike McMains, who has served as my state director since I returned to the Senate in January 2011,” added Coats. "Mike gave up a successful law practice to help open my Indiana offices and serve Hoosiers across the state. Mike has assembled a first-class, highly effective state staff serving Hoosiers in every region of the state. I am grateful for all of his hard work and service, and I am pleased he will remain on my staff as senior counsel.”

Eric Holcomb will join the Coats’ office on July 10.
