TERRE HAUTE — A free lecture and discussion about three pivotal black leaders from American history is set for tonight at the Vigo County Public Library.

The Ohser Lifelong Learning Institute and the VCPL present “We should know their courage,” a presentation about Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. DuBois and Henry McNeal Turner from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the main branch of the library downtown.

The lecture and discussion are free and open to the public.

These three leaders developed strategies to combat, survive and triumph over racism at the turn of the 20th Century, a period considered by many historians as a low point in American post-slavery race relations.
