ROCKVILLE — A Monticello man is facing criminal allegations in connection with a fatal motor vehicle accident that took place Tuesday evening in Lyford in southern Parke County.

The Parke County Sheriff’s Department, in a news release issued Thursday, said Jason Haygood, 21, tested positive for a controlled substance for which he did not have a prescription and cannabinoids after the crash, which claimed the life of Courtney McCall, 21, also of Monticello.

An infant that was also injured in the crash was released from Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis on Wednesday, according to the release.

After the crash, which took place about 5 p.m. Tuesday, McCall was flown by helicopter ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where she later died. Haygood was treated at Union Hospital in Clinton where his drug test was given, according to the sheriff’s department.

Haygood, who police said was driving the vehicle in which McCall and the infant were riding, is facing allegations of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance and marijuana, resulting in death.
