TERRE HAUTE —
Indiana State Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Aug. 30 from 10 p.m. until midnight.
State police and Vigo County Sheriff’s deputies conducted the checkpoint on U.S. 40 near Schley Place. Police checked 195 vehicles, with one person arrested for driving under the influence and eight other people cited for various traffic violations, said ISP Sgt. Joe Watts.
“The Indiana State Police are committed to traffic safety and will continue to conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints to apprehend impaired drivers and to deter others from drinking and driving,” Watts said.
