Carbon man hurt in truck crash near Champaign

---- — A Clay County man was hospitalized and cited for his involvement in an accident in Illinois Wednesday.

According to the Illinois State Police, Bobby Gene Cannon, 57, Carbon, was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, shortly after the accident, which occurred at 9:28 a.m. Hospital staff said he’d been released by that afternoon.

The accident occurred in the Interstate 74 westbound lane to Interstate 57, southbound ramp, in Champaign County.

Cannon’s semi was traveling at an unsafe speed and overturned while navigating a curve, police said.

Cannon was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
