Tribune-Star staff report
A Clinton man has been arrested following theft of a boat, trailer and dirt bike from a Universal residence.
Scott Lee Woody, 43, was being held in the Vermillion County Jail on a charge of receiving stolen property, according to a news release from the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department.
He was arrested Monday after a witness told a sheriff’s deputy that Woody was seen in his pickup truck pulling a trailer that matched the description of the stolen property.
Sheriff’s deputies and Indiana State Police troopers went to the Woody residence on Willowgrove Avenue just west of Clinton, where they found a trailer, boat motor, other items from the boat and a dirt bike — all reported stolen from Universal. The boat was later located near Centenary, west of Clinton.
Additional investigation at his residence revealed an enclosed car trailer with two four-wheelers and other items reportedly stolen from Vigo County.
Woody is expected to appear in Vermillion County court today.
