TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man received a 24-year prison sentence today after admitting that he confined three adopted children to their bedroom and deprived them of food, water and bathroom facilities for several weeks.

Larry Russell, 40, must serve all of his sentence in prison with no probation, Vigo Superior Court 1 Judge John Roach ordered.

However, because state law limits the enhancement of his sentence, Russell must only serve 10 years of the sentence. With credit given for the time he has already served in jail since his arrest almost a year ago, along with good-time credit, Russell will spend the next four years in the Indiana Department of Correction.
