Two Sullivan County men this morning face charges involving firearms and possession of methamphetamine, Indiana State Police report.
John M. Abolt, 34, is charged with dealing in methamphetamine, a class-A felony, and possession of methamphetamine, a class-C felony. Abolt is alleged to have possessed about 25.6 grams of methamphetamine. He then allegedly sold that during an undercover police investigation in September 2012.
Elmer E. Seeley, 50, was charged with possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a class-B felony, and receiving stolen property, a class-D felony. Police allege Seeley had possession of and subsequently sold a 9-millimeter handgun during an undercover investigation in May 2012. Seeley is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a previous criminal conviction.
The investigation was a joint effort between the FBI and the Indiana State Police. Police arrested the two men about 5 a.m. after about 40 county, state and federal officers simultaneously descended upon the homes of Seeley and Abolt, both of whom have Farmersburg addresses.
Both men are being held in the Sullivan County Jail.
