TERRE HAUTE — A Clinton couple has died and their daughter has been seriously injured in a fatal car crash that occurred late Tuesday in southern Vermillion County near Universal.

Kimberly L. Kabbany, 36, died at the scene on Range Line Road at a cement bridge over Brouiletts Creek.

Her husband, 39-year-old Claudio Kabbany, was seriously injured and transported from the scene to Union Hospital at Clinton. He was pronounced dead in the hospital emergency room.

A 10-year-old girl, Brittany Lynn Kabbany, was transported to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, where she was reported in stable condition on Wednesday. The child was a backseat passenger in the car.

Vermillion County Sheriff Robert Spence said Kimberly Kabbany was the driver of the 1995 Oldsmobile, which was traveling northbound at high rate of speed when it struck a bridge abutment. The driver was killed on impact, authorities said.

Emergency personnel were notified of the crash at 11:22 p.m.
