TERRE HAUTE — The following individuals were booked into the Vigo County Jail by area law enforcement on Tuesday and Wednesday, based on jail records. Charges are recommended by arresting officers but are not final until the Vigo County prosecutor reviews the case and files official charges.


James Williams, 25, no address, Terre Haute. Booked 12:45 p.m. Burglary.

Ashley S. Kernstein, 24, 3800 block of North 25th Street, Terre Haute. Booked 1:13 p.m. Driving while suspended.

Sunny S. Jones, 37, 2000 block of 13 1/2 Street, Terre Haute. Booked 1:51 p.m. Failure to appear (two counts) and public intoxication.

Daniel A. Downing, 35, 10 block of North Foulkes Drive, Terre Haute. Booked 4:52 p.m. Habitual traffic violator.

Jacob M. Hills, 22, 1300 block of South Center Street, Terre Haute. Booked 7:08 p.m. Leaving the scene-property damage.

Nicole L. Norton, 24, 400 block of West Poplar Street, West Terre Haute. Booked 7:48 p.m. Probation violation.

Shane M. Jenkins, 28, 300 block of North Cemetery Road, Rosedale. Booked 8:33 p.m. Resisting law enforcement, theft, receiving stolen property, operating while intoxicated, escape, criminal recklessness, reckless driving, unauthorized entry and motor vehicle theft.


Chester R. Smith, 49, 1500 block of Third Avenue, Terre Haute. Booked 2:28 a.m. Possession of methamphetamine.

Georgina M. Hof, 43, 1500 block of Third Avenue, Terre Haute. Booked 2:34 a.m. Failure to appear (two counts) and false reporting.

Vern Eversole, 42, 900 block of South Fifth Street, Terre Haute. Booked 3:26 a.m. Habitual traffic violator, possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, resisting law enforcement and operating while intoxicated.

Clayton D. Miller, 36, 5400 block of East 1700th Avenue, Wheeler, Ill. Booked 4:31 a.m. Operating while intoxicated, leaving scene and criminal recklessness.

Under the law, criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
