Wabash Valley Right to Life benefit dinner Jan. 31

Reservation deadline is Jan. 18

News Release

ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS — Wabash Valley Right to Life is hosting a benefit dinner on Jan. 31 in O’Shaughnessy Dining Room on the campus of Saint Mary of the Woods College. Guest speaker is Jill Stanek, a leader in the pro-life movement today.

Those interested in hosting a table or attending the dinner, must call 812-466-0875 on or before Jan. 18.

As a nurse at Christ Hospital in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn in 1999, Stanek realized her hospital was not only involved in abortion, but they were leaving babies that survived induced labor abortion in a utility room to die. These weren't just abortions; the hospital was involved with infanticide.

Stanek first unsuccessfully worked to get things changed from the inside as a nurse, but eventually quit and resorted to the courts and legislation to initiate change. Her efforts resulted in having some Illinois laws changed. And later, when President Bush signed the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act into law, he publicly recognized Stanek for her contribution. Stanek gained even more notoriety in the 2008 presidential election when she revealed to the nation that as a senator, Barack Obama had voted against an Illinois Born-Alive Act multiple times. Because of her revelations, Stanek was targeted by those in the pro-choice movement.

Besides being a popular speaker, Stanek now writes for World Net Daily and has her own blog which is the top-ranking pro-life blog in the United States. She has become the internet voice of the pro-life movement. The pro-choice movement recognized that on June 4, 2009, when Keith Olbermann named her the worst person in the world and called her readers "crazy people" saying that if this were "a just world" then Stanek would, "be put in jail for the rest of (her) life."
