Weather Service rates both at EF0

TERRE HAUTE — The National Weather Service office in Indianapolis has reported that two small tornadoes touched down in southern Vigo County during Thursday evening’s storm.

The office descriped them as “two small, brief tornadoes” that were produced as a squall line moved through.

A second tornado from the same storm occurred near 8:25 p.m. in Riley, about 5 miles southeast of Terre Haute. This tornado was observed by Riley volunteer fireman in a field just west of their fire station.

The second tornado destroyed a small shed and downed several tree limbs. This tornado was also rated an EF0 with associated winds also around 80 mph.
