Run/walk for Boston: More than $1,500 raised at Saturday afternoon event

TERRE HAUTE — Almost 100 people ran or walked in Saturday afternoon’s “Memorial 1-Mile Run/Walk for Boston,” a fundraiser to help victims of the bombings that occurred near the end of the Boston Marathon on April 15, at Memorial Stadium.

Event organizer and Terre Haute runner Majel Wells, who finished this year’s Boston Marathon, said $1,504.47 was raised for One Fund Boston. Having fun for a good cause was emphasized more than times and placings Saturday, but 12-year-old Grant Nicoson of Cory did cross the finish line first.
