Tinsley makes bid for Greene sheriff

SOLSBERRY — Walter Rannix Tinsley has announced his candidacy for Greene County sheriff. He has filed as a Democrat.

In 1992, Tinsley was hired as a full-time deputy marshal for the town of Spencer in Owen County. In 2006, he was promoted to assistant chief.     

Tinsley is a decorated officer, according to a press release. In 2004, he was recognized for “going above and beyond the call of duty” by helping to save a family trapped in a burning vehicle.

Tinsley is a member of the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police, Moose Lodge 2482, the Owen County YMCA and the Hendricksville Area Association.

Tinsley, his wife and his two children reside near Solsberry.
