Northside bank robbed Saturday morning

TERRE HAUTE — A bank in Terre Haute’s north side was robbed Saturday morning, police said.

No one was hurt in the robbery at the Terre Haute Savings Bank’s North Banking Center, where a male suspect took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the bank on foot, police said.

The robbery occurred around 11:50 a.m., police said, just 10 minutes before the bank was to close. The bank is in the 1800 block of Lafayette Avenue.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25-35 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, with a thin build, according to police. He was wearing dark shoes/boots, light-colored blue jeans, a dark-colored zip up jacket, black sunglasses and a light grey stocking cap with the letters “ABC” on the front of the cap, the Terre Haute Police Department said.

By around 1:30 p.m., the Terre Haute Police Department was still at the scene conducting investigations.
