Northside bank robbed Saturday morning

TERRE HAUTE — A bank in Terre Haute’s north side was robbed Saturday morning, police said.

No one was hurt in the robbery at the Terre Haute Savings Bank’s North Banking Center, where a male suspect took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the bank on foot, police said.

The robbery occurred around 11:50 a.m., police said, just 10 minutes before the bank was to close. The bank is in the 1800 block of Lafayette Avenue.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25-35 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, with a thin build, according to police. He was wearing dark shoes/boots, light-colored blue jeans, a dark-colored zip up jacket, black sunglasses and a light grey stocking cap with the letters “ABC” on the front of the cap, the Terre Haute Police Department said.

By around 1:30 p.m., the Terre Haute Police Department was still at the scene conducting investigations.

If anyone can help identify the suspect or has any information about the robbery, contact the police department at 812-238-1661.
