Out-of-town warrant led to meth arrests

TERRE HAUTE — Probable cause was found for the Thursday arrest of a Terre Haute man who allegedly had a meth lab in his home.

William “B.J.” Pine, 30, appeared in Vigo Superior Court 3 on Friday on preliminary charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of precursors, dumping illegal waste and maintaining a common nuisance.

Investigator Irene Miller with the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office stated that Indiana State Police were checking the prescription drug database for people violating the rules on pseudoephedrine purchases when they came across the name of a person wanted on an out-of-county warrant who was living in Terre Haute.

Police went to the residence in the 1400 block of South Ninth Street looking for Brandy Pine, 31, on a warrant for neglect of a dependent, and while looking for her, police found a duffle bag that contained ingredients for a meth lab. Police also found a shotgun lying on the floor of the apartment. A check of that weapon revealed that it had been reported stolen in Oregon in 1977.

Judge Bolk ordered Pine held in the Vigo County Jail. Pine is to return to court Wednesday for filing of formal charges.
