Morrises leave Boston following explosions at marathon

Terre Haute couple shaken, saddened by incident

TERRE HAUTE — Mike Morris, Vigo County Council member and owner of Morris Trucking, safely completed the Boston Marathon about 20 minutes prior to the explosions.

He then met his wife, Linda, and they were driving out of Boston when interviewed by phone about 5:30 p.m. today.

They both heard, and felt the explosions when they occurred earlier. “It rattled your chest,” Linda said. It had a metallic sound, she said.

The Morrises didn’t know that explosive devices were used until they got back to their hotel.

“We’re getting out of Dodge,” Mike said when interviewed of their exit from Boston.

They are saddened and angered by what happened. “I’m angry that someone can come in and just destroy such a good activity for everyone. How dare you do something like this,” Linda said. “It was an act of violence for violence sake.”

Mike added, “These things are just unbelievable … How do you put words with it?” Mike Morris, Vigo County Council member and owner of Morris Trucking, safely completed the Boston Marathon about 20 minutes prior to the explosions.
