TERRE HAUTE — A New Mexico woman has died in an auto crash just west of Shelburn in Sullivan County.

Jennifer Rambis, 34, of La Plata, N.M., was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11 p.m. Sunday crash on Indiana 48 near County Road 700 North.

Indiana State Police at Putnamville report that Ranbis was driving a 2005 Ford SUV westbound when her vehicle went left of center. The driver overcorrected, left the roadway, and the vehicle rolled over, partially ejecting Rambis. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, police report. Toxicology results are pending.

The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Tyler VanNess, with assistance from the Sullivan County sheriff’s, coroner, and EMS departments, as well as Shelburn Fire and Rescue.
