TERRE HAUTE —
A Terre Haute woman remains hospitalized in Indianapolis where she is recovering after being compacted in a trash truck early Thursday.
Jeanmarie A. Jackson, 42, was in fair condition Friday afternoon at Methodist Hospital where she was being treated for a crushed pelvis and other injuries sustained in an incident that killed her boyfriend.
“She is expected to survive,” said Shawn Keen, assistant chief of the Terre Haute Police Department, adding that no criminal charges are expected to be filed in the case.
Jackson and her boyfriend, Franschon Barr, 46, had taken shelter early Thursday inside a trash container outside a discount store at 11th and Locust streets when their container was collected and dumped into a garbage truck. An autopsy determined that Barr, formerly of Connecticut, died of asphyxiation due to the trash being compacted.
