TERRE HAUTE —
Terre Haute’s newly renovated Deming Park Pool is scheduled to open at noon today, featuring a resurfaced pool floor, a freshly painted pool house and ADA-compliant bathrooms and showers.
Terre Haute Regional Hospital has partnered with the Parks Department by donating $5,000 to purchase a pool lift chair to make the department compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
At 11:45 a.m. today, Regional CEO Mary Ann Conroy, Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett and city park board members will be on hand for a check presentation and unveiling of the lift chair.
“The Terre Haute Parks Department is excited to have the help from Regional Hospital, as now anyone physically challenged can enter the pool with assistance of the lift chair,” Bruce Rosselli, director of recreation, said in a press release.
Because of delays in opening the pool, Bennett and Parks Superintendent Eddie Bird are allowing half price admission for all children and adults of $1.50 for today, Saturday and Sunday.
