Travel advisory for Edgar, other District 10 counties


News Release

---- — Illinois State Police District 10 officials in an email news release today advise that the roadways throughout District 10 are rapidly becoming snow covered and slippery. Visibility is also decreasing due to heavy snowfalls. The southwest portions of the district are currently experiencing heavy snowfall and the snow showers are moving east. District 10 includes the counties of Champaign, Douglas, Coles, Vermilion, Edgar, Moultrie, Piatt, Shelby, and Macon.

In the last one hour, three cars have spun into the ditch on Interstate 57 near Tuscola due to snow and icing conditions.

Stranded motorists are encouraged to remain inside their vehicles, activate their four way flashers, and call 911 if they need immediate assistance.
