TERRE HAUTE —
A city police officer was treated and released from Union Hospital after a Friday morning traffic accident at Brown Avenue and Ohio Boulevard.
Patrol officer Brent Stoelting sustained minor injuries, Terre Haute Police Chief John Plasse told the Tribune-Star, when his southbound patrol car was struck in the passenger side by an eastbound Jeep driven by an older woman.
An accident report with details was not available Friday afternoon, Plasse said, but he stated that the woman driver was shaken up, but had no obvious injuries from the crash. She signed a medical release and was not transported for treatment.
Plasse said that Stoelting had stopped on Brown Avenue at the intersection, and was proceeding through the boulevard intersection when his patrol car was struck. Plasse said the other motorist did not stop at the intersection.
“We’re fortunate that it wasn’t any worse than what it was,” Plasse said of the accident.
