A multi-vehicle crash injured one person and stopped traffic in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Putnam County Thursday, authorities said.
Police said they believe that the injury sustained by the individual is not life threatening.
Indiana State Police said the crash, which occurred just east of the 41-mile marker, involved four passenger cars and four semi-trailers.
The westbound lanes were closed for hours to clear the wreckage and clean up approximately 500 gallons of diesel fuel, police said.
Traffic was diverted on to U.S. 40, police said.
At around 9:30 p.m., police announced that all lanes were open and the investigation was complete.
Indiana State Police said they were assisted by Putnam County EMS, Putnam County Sheriff's Office and Cloverdale Fire/Rescue at the scene.
